#23 THE END----FINALLY!!!!

Even though I waited till almost the last minute to finish my blog,I am so grateful that it is finally happening! One of the main reasons it took so long was that I didn't have a working computer at home and couldn't find the time or a free computer to do this at work. Actually--I didn't have any idea how to do half of these THINGS anyway. Well, I finally broke down & got the internet at home & even got to use my son's laptop. I worked on this thing for hours and lo and behold---I am almost done!!!
My kids have their MY SPACE--(I know! But I do monitor them), and some of the things that they put on there is so amazing!! BUT- when I asked for help, my son told me that this wasn't anything like his "my space" & he was completely confused. So---I did the majority of it all alone! Of course I got alot of help from Julie, to whom I will be eternally grateful!!! She can tell you that my biggest problem was remembering all my usernames & passwords! It was confusing for a while because I had to keep e-mailing for my password. But Julie was very patient & very supportive. THANKS, Julie!!
Of course my favorite part was YouTube!!! You can spend hours on that site. How I finally downloaded it on to my blog was a miracle!! I did like Flickr, but the first picture I put on my blog from there disappeared for some unknown rreason. It was a good one too!
I liked the image generator and if I had more time, I'm sure I can be more creative. That Smileyface was REALLY hard!!!!!
I have enjoyed reading other peoples blogs,too. I am so impressed with all the talent that we have at this library!!
Yes, I would try to do another exercise if you came up with one. I did find out how little I knew about the things that can be done on the computer. I have wasted so much time just playing games and bidding on e-bay!!! But now that I have the 7 1/2 habits (Thanks Louisa!)this has all changed!!!

#22 E-Books

I always knew we had e-books at the library, but I never thought I would be able to use this service. I have a hard time sitting in one place for the time it would take to read a book. I created another account, went to YPL eContent Collection. I was actually looking for fiction books, since I do not read any non-fiction except Cookbooks! That would be a good idea1--Putting cookbooks on e books! Anyway, I did finally find a few fiction books. I would rather read a real book myself or listen to the BOC's.

I used podcast.net for my search, using library as keyword. I found Thomas Ford Memorial Library teen Reviews. They are using podcasts for teen book reviews. i can see our library's TEEN EXTREME using this for their book reviews. I am sure it will prove to be very helpful.

My son loves the Colts & Peyton Manning and of course, so do I. I found quite a few videos but I liked this one the most. This is such a wonderful video!
This was one of my favorite THINGS to do! I know I will be using this again!! I FINALLY figured this out and am confident about being able to do this.

Very interesting, I use word alot and I enjoyed Zoho Writer. You have so many different things to chose from--colors, font sizes, adding pics, smiley faces.... I will probably use this again.

Watched the podcast. I iked the idea of the BookloversWiki/Princeton library. Whenever you are not sure about an author or a book to read, this would be a very useful tool. I know I have wanted to experiment with reading different authors but didn't know if I would like their books or not. There is not only a summary, there is a rating also which would be very helpful. I have often been asked about different books and now I can access the info by using this "wiki".

So...you would like my opinion about Library 2.0. Well, first of all, I think that it would have gone alot smoother as a joint project. I guess some of the branches were doing it that way. Good Idea!! There is always someone that knows more about these things than me & I am not too proud to ask for help. Now, I am determined to finish this project. I am doing this at home and have to ask my kids for help.

Watched the videocast about Technorati. I ended up on a YouTube site. Watched different videos, tried to put one on my blog, but I have to wait for help to arrive. Very technical. I don't think I will ever use this on my own.

I do know about bookmarks! I wasn't completely in the dark on this subject. I do find these to be quite useful, especially if you use more than one computer . I used this to bookmark recipes--since I hate to cook, but love to collect recipes.

Rollyo

One of my favorite spots is KnowItNow. This is actually a website you can go on at Libraryvisit.com. It is such a useful site when you have kids that have tons of projects. I wasn't too impressed with this Rollyo. I had some problems with this. I got on ok & signed up, filled in the blanks and then?????what am I supposed to do now????? Anyway, it was another interesting task. DONE!!!!!

Library thing. I had no problem here, believe it or not! I got on ok and posted some of my favorite books. I have been on a Patterson kick. I just got done reading #5, The Fifth Horseman. I am waiting for #6. You can always count on some kind of twist at the end of these stories. So, they are now on my blog. Its A Miracle!!!!

What an ordeal this was!!!!!!I had fun creating my smileyface, I got to add the eyes, mouth, arms, legs....BUT----Getting it to show up on my blog took forever!! Thankfully, Julie is a very patient person & she was a great help!!!!! Added my little angel, all by myself!

I found this part very easy--setting up an account. I chose some topics that I was interested in and added them to my favs. There is quite an extensive colection of sites.



This was even more difficult for me since I have been away from blogging for quite some time.
I found a site called Dog Reader. This site is about dogs that are deaf or hard of hearing. I did learn quite a bit from this site. I checked out a few blogs that other YPL employees did and mine is so boring compared to everyone elses.

This is a picture I found of a dog that resembles my dog, Nella.

Nella is an 11 month old, red-nosed, pit bull. She has the sweetest disposition & is so loving & trusting. She was one of 10 puppies and so far the only one we know of that was born deaf. Training her has proven to be quite a challenge. She has learned some hand signals & as long as she is looking directly at you, she does obey them.

As quiet and laid back as she is, she will only let Marley go so far before she shows him who's boss!

#2 71/2 Habits That Successful...

Just got through watching the video about this. Attitude is number one!! It's never too late to learn is number 2. Found out by doing this blog that it really pertains to this assignment. Have confidence--which I didn't have any in the beginning.. View problems as a challenge!!!! This information was very helpful. I am determined to finish this on time!!! How's that for a GOOD ATTITUDE!!!!

Just starting today and I have absolutely no idea what I am doing. Hopefully, I will catch on and have a blog as wonderful as the rest of the staff has.
